How We Source Furniture & Materials for Every Project
At LMD Interior Design Studio, we have one rule we never break: no two projects are ever furnished the same way. Not the same sofa. Not the same stone. Not the same light fixture pulled from a catalogue and dropped into three homes across Brevard County. If you hire us to design your space, what fills that space will be sourced for you — and for you alone.
Here's how we make that promise real.
Every Year, We Go to Market
Twice a year, the world's finest furniture makers, textile houses, and artisans gather in one place: High Point Market in North Carolina, the largest home furnishings trade show on earth. And every year, LMD is there — walking the showrooms, meeting the makers, and discovering pieces most people will never see in a store.
We don't source from a screen. We touch the fabrics. We test the joinery. We ask where the wood was milled and how the finish was applied. High Point Market is where we build relationships with craftspeople directly, which means our clients gain access to custom and limited-run pieces that simply aren't available to the general public.
For a luxury interior design studio in Viera, Florida, that annual pilgrimage isn't a luxury — it's the whole point.
Sourcing Doesn't Stop at Market
High Point Market is where the year begins — but great sourcing is a habit, not a once-a-year event. Between trips, we're constantly out visiting our local suppliers and showrooms, because the pieces that make a room sing are rarely the ones sitting online.
We love walking a supplier's floor in person: feeling a new textile the day it arrives, spotting a stone slab before it's claimed, catching a fresh collection the moment it lands. Those in-person visits are how we stay ahead of what's new — and how we build the kind of trusted relationships that get our clients first access to standout pieces.
Sourcing locally also means we can move quickly, support the makers and vendors in our own community, and keep a close eye on quality every step of the way. National markets give us reach; our local network gives us speed, service, and a constant stream of new discoveries.
Why We Never Repeat a Piece
It would be easier — and cheaper — to find a handful of "safe" furniture lines and reuse them project after project. Plenty of designers do exactly that. We refuse to.
When you invest in professional interior design, you're not buying a look. You're buying a home that reflects your life, your history, and your way of living. A piece that's perfect for a Cocoa Beach coastal retreat has no business appearing again in a Rockledge family home or a Melbourne executive residence. Every family is different, so every sourcing list is different.
That's why, at LMD, we never use the same furniture or material twice. Each project starts from a blank page. Each stone, each textile, each hand-finished detail is chosen for the specific home it will live in — and then it's retired from our palette so no one else receives a copy of your space.
What "Sourced For You" Actually Means
Our process is deliberate, and it's why our interiors feel collected rather than purchased:
We travel to source. High Point Market and select trade-only showrooms let us find pieces long before they reach retail — if they ever do.
We source locally, year-round. We regularly visit our trusted regional suppliers to see new arrivals in person — because the best pieces are found, not ordered from a screen.
We build one-of-a-kind schemes. Furniture, lighting, textiles, and materials are selected as a single, cohesive story unique to your project.
We work with makers directly. Custom dimensions, bespoke finishes, and made-to-order upholstery are the norm, not the exception.
We retire what we use. Once a piece lives in your home, it doesn't reappear in the next one.
The result is a space that photographs beautifully — but, more importantly, one that feels like yours the moment you walk in.
A French Eye, Sourced Globally, Designed for Florida
LMD Interior Design Studio was founded on a European sensibility — a French architectural background and a designer's eye trained across France and Scotland — brought to the coast of Brevard County, Florida. That perspective shapes how we source: with patience, with an obsession for craftsmanship, and with a refusal to settle for the ordinary.
Whether you're designing a full residential renovation or reimagining a single room, our sourcing process ensures your home is original from the ground up.
